We
wanted our rings to represent our love and friendship that would be the
basis of a lifetime together. With both of us being artists, it was
important that our rings be personalized, embodying each of our personalities
as well as symbolizing our togetherness. The only way we felt that this could
be done was through creating our rings with the guidance of an experienced
jewelry designer who had a sense for creativity. We also wanted the
designer to be someone who could capture our love in the rings. That led us
to a coffee house in Manhattan where Louis Farkovitz met us to begin
discussing our rings. Nick's
mom had given us her engagement ring, so we could incorporate the diamonds
into the new design. This made it even more special. Louis carefully
examined the ring to see the feasibility of different designs. For the
engagement ring, Kathlene was looking for an art deco look due to her love
of the 1920's. For Nick's wedding band, he wanted something solid and
geometric. After much discussion and drawings we came up with the ring
designs with Louis’s guidance such as pavet design for Kathlene's engagement
ring and design layouts that would embody our needs. He also created
designs that would withstand time. When we saw the prototype of the
engagement ring we were amazed at how all of our requests were captured in
the ring as well as the unique design that carried the Louis Farkovitz
sensibility. -Nick & Kathy

Working with Nick and Kathlene, artists in their own right, was a unique experience. Both Nick and Kathlene are very wonderful, and visual people. Our shared love for art deco design made the project more meaningful and fun as opposed to a chore. Hand made in platinum, and working with some of the finest craftsmen in the industry, Jose Delgado a highly skilled jewelry technician, advised me with the structure, and one of the finest diamond setters, Oleg Zydman set the ring perfectly. Hence, the concoction of a beautiful ring is realized. I get by with a little help of my friends! With all the pressures and decision making that go along with the preparation of matrimony, the last thing a loving couple needs is more anxiety! I want the experience to be as light and easy as possible. I’m very pleased with the outcome of the ring and honored to have been made part of Nick and Kathlene’s engagement. -Louis |
